Reno has lived with fire from its early days. Since 1878, when the Reno Hook and Ladder Company Number One was established, local fire fighters have risked their lives to protect our citizens, visitors, and property. The International Association of Fire Fighters Local #731 has a web site on the History of the Reno Fire Department. You will find pages showing a cronological history of RFD, early apparatus, and stunning photos of major fire incidents dating back to 1902. Additionally, there is information on all the Reno fire stations and their museum. Of particular note is their project to restore the 1917 ALF Type 17-6 85' Tillered Aerial Ladder Truck Reg. No. 1775, also know as Reno FD Truck One. The photos are facinating and they are making great progress on the restoration. They wouldn't mind taking some donations to help support their efforts either! The site is hosted by the Local and maintained by firefighter Jon Wagner. Check out the site at: IAFF731 Web Site.
Great job, guys and gals, and thanks for all you do!
